HAPPY NEW YEAR – 2010

Year 2009 has just passed into history, and it is a matter of pride that we have had a wonderful year, full of achievements, some minor hiccups here and there notwithstanding.

Year 2009 brought laurels to India when its star music performers were honored with Oscars Awards.

The Indian cricket team too, reached the pinnacle of achieving the top spot in ICC rankings as the number one cricket playing nation in the world.

Our President Mrs Pratibha Patil,  flew in the Sukhoi fighter jet and became the first lady, while being the Head of any country, to have done so.

The recession finally took a slowdown, and some relief and improvements later.

The World saw the much awaited, Tata Nano, the worlds cheapest car at INR 100,000 ($2000 approx.). The world stood awed and spell-bound by the design/ specifications & its conformance to international standards!

Some people were also in the limelight for various reasons on the ‘Domestic’ as well as the ‘International’ front.

The four times Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, N.D.Tewari, who was posted as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh made an ignominious back-door exit from Raj Bhawan. Somehow,  he sailed in the same boat with Tiger Woods which capsised.

Y.S.R. Reddy, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh, met a premature death in a helicopter crash.

DGP (Retd) SPS Rathore is still not sure what luck has in store for him on the first sunlight of 2010.

Michael Jackson died of an overdose of pain-killer medicines.

Barrack Obama took the oath of the 44th President of the United States, and a new star was born on the horizon.

Lots of our hopes are pinned on year 2010. Still, there are too many unfinished tasks which have to be attended to in 2010, or even later?

We hope that the conditions of our roads improve and that adequate parking spaces are made available.

We hope that our saas-bahu quarrel serials should be taken off the air and some sense induced in the makers of serials who should now try to make some comedy serials instead. This would, result in peace in every household and save some of the crockery on the table fit for use on the next day.

As also that Sachin should be slamming centuries after centuries and no one should question him about his nationality. Yes, he is an Indian.

Our hopes are endless and desires innumerable. At least let us pray and hope that in Twenty-Ten we fare better and work for causes which may bring an era of peace and tranquility.

Wishing you a Happy New Year, and many more to come.

Enjoy Twenty-Ten.
