IPL-3 : DELHI BEAT RAJASTHAN

Delhi Daredevils beat Rajasthan Royals by 67  runs. This is a comprehensive victory by Delhi over Rajasthan. Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat on Wednesday against Rajasthan Royals at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. Delhi opened the innings with D Warner and Sehwag who put up 24 for the first wicket. Warner was bowled by Narwal.

Thereafter wickets fell for Delhi at almost regular intervals and they were 67 for 4 when Dinesh Karthik and Gautam Gambhir steadied the Delhi innings to consolidate their team’s score  into a fighting total. Gautam Gambhir scored a classy 43 which were punctuated with 3 fours and was caught by Pathan off the bowling of Narwal.

Karthik scored a magnificent 69 off 38 balls which included 6 fours and four sixes. He even hit three consecutive fours off Tait and took Delhi to a comfortable score. He was caught Raut b Tait for 69 runs. Gambhir plodded along smoothly and got 43 off 37 balls with the help of three boundries.

Karthik’s half-century took Delhi Daredevils to a fighting score of 188 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The outcome of the match changed as Gambhir and Karthik built up the Delhi score carefully and brought it to a respectable total.
 
Sumit Narwal bowled well with the new ball and got rid of Warner and Sehwag. Sehwag edged the ball from Narwal and was caught by Dogra in the deep square leg area. Collingwood 16 and McDonald 14 were the other contributors to the Delhi total.

Narwal took 3 wickets for 36 runs and Shane Warne and Tait got one wicket each.

Rajasthan Royals showed a very dismal performance with the bat. They were all out for 121 runs in 17.4 overs. They lost wickets at regular intervals and Ojha was the main contributor who scored 27 runs. Other contributors to the score were Voges 15. Y Pathan 24 and Dogra 22. 

It was a splendid all-round performance in fielding and bowling which saw Delhi Daredevils beat Rajasthan Royals by 67 runs. This is the highest margin of victory in any match of IPL-3. Delhi move to the No. 2 spot with a 67-run win over the Rajasthan Royals in New Delhi. The home crowd cheered the Delhi team all through the match.

The award for the maximum sixes went to Dinesh Kartik.

The Karbonn Kamaal Catch award went to David Warner who took four catches in the match.

The Man of the match award went to Dinesh Kartik.
