IPL-3 : DECCAN BEAT BANGALORE

Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challangers Bangalore by  at the Vidharba Cricket Association Ground at Nagpur on Monday.  Dale Steyn’s superb bowling effort wrecked Deccan Chargers top batsmen. Gilchrist, Suman and Gibbs were his victims and he got them with sheer pace and accuracy. 

Rohit Sharma and Monish Mishra somehow tried their best to stabilise the sinking ship of Deccan Chargers with an 82 run partnership. Gilchrist was the first to go out caught Uthappa when he edged the ball from Steyn. 

Rohit Sharma was out caught Pandey bowled Vinay for after scoring the vital half century for his team. At that time Deccan Chargers then stood at 133 for 6 and then Suman was caught off a rising delivery at leg slip by Taylor. 

Gibbs was out bowled by Steyn when he played him on to his stumps. It was an in-swinger from Steyn and a leading  edge took the ball to his off stump.  

Deccan were 14 for 3 at that time  and  Rohit Sharma and Mishra began the rebuilding act from there on. It was a wait and watch strategy adopted by both the batsman which paid dividends.

 Rohit Sharma and Monish Mishra gave fresh lease of life to their team. Monish Mishra hit two sixes off Kumble and Rohit hit three consecutive fours off Kallis. Rohit was out on the first ball of the 19th over caught by Pandey bowled Vinay for 51 runs. Mishra was run out for 41 runs. 

Deccan Chargers survived three huge blows in the first two overs of the match to keep alive their hopes had a definite advantage, and at one stage it appeared that they will win this match. 

In reply thereto, RC Bangalore were looking pretty at 94 for 2. Dravid was unlucky to miss his half century by a run and was out caught Sumanth bowled Symonds for 49. Thereafter, RCB lost wickets at regular intervals. as the Deccan bowlers rose to the occassion and toppled Bangalore batting like a pack of cards. 

Harris struck off the very first delivery. Then Taylor was bowled by RP Singh off a perfect yorker and later Virat Kohli departed caught Sumanth  bowled Ojha for 3 runs.  RC Bangalore were 104 for 5  and needed 48 to win off 37 balls. 

Ojha displayed some fine spin bowling and got the wickets of Jacques Kallis and Virat Kohli..

Then Cameroon White also departed bowled by RB Singh caught by Symonds for 3 runs. In the last threee overs they needed 40 runs which appeared an uphill task. Throughout the innings the Deccan Chargers fielding had been tremendous. 

RP Singh (2/21), Pragyan Ojha (2/22), Harmeet Singh (2/24) and Ryan Harris (2/34) had done their duty and  wrecked the Bangalore ship. 

Then Harmeet delivered the blow from which there was no comeback for Bangalore, bowling his slower deliveries, he ended Uthappa’s  innings, and sounded the death knell of Bangalore’s chances of winning. 

In the 19th over Harmeet Singh struck twice in 2 balls and gave victory to Deccan Chargers who beat Royal Challangers Bangalore  by 13 runs.

The award for the maximum sixes went to Robin Uthappa. 

The award for the Karbonn Kamaal Catch went to T. Suman. 

The Man of the match award went to Harmeet Singh.
