SA LEVEL ODI SERIES

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat in the 4th ODI on Friday against India being played at Port Elizabeth. South Africa piled up a score of 266 for the loss of seven wickets thanks to the half centuries by JP Duminy and Hashim Amla.

South Africa were cruising along comfortably at 100 for 1 after which they lost four quick wickets, two of which were needless run-outs. Then came JP Duminy to the crease who, alongwith Botha steadied the SA ship and added 70 runs along with him.

Amla took his time to settle down in the early overs, but soon unfurled his full range of strokes to pick up plenty of boundaries. All the three Indian pacers Zahir Khan, Munaf Patel and Ashish Nehra were punished by Amla.

Harbhajan Singh also strayed in line and length and Amla capitalised by working him through the gaps in the leg side. A slash to third man off Yuvraj Singh brought Amla his 12th half-century. (more…)

IPL-3 : MUMBAI BEAT DELHI

Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday. Mumbai opened with Sachin Tendulkar and C.Madan who put up a 41 run opening partnership when Madan was out for 15 runs and  Tewary joined Sachin at the crease.

Tewary was playing well and gave adequate support to Sachin Tendulkar. Later Tendulkar was caught by de Villiers and bowled Sangwan for 30 runs which included three hits to the fence. Mumbai were then 65 for 2 and Rayudu walked in to support Tewary. 

Tewary misread a slower one from Sangawan and was bowled for 38 runs which were puctuated with a four and two sixes. Rayudu slowly prodded along to build up Mumbai score and  was later caught by AB de Villiers and bowled Ashish Nehra for 24 runs.  (more…)

IPL-3 : MUMBAI BEAT RAJASTHAN

 Mumbai Indians beat  Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs and became the first team in IPL- 3 to advance to the IPL semi-finals. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to field at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on Sunday. Mumbai Indians opened the innings with Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jaisurya.  Jayasurya was out after scoring 1 run and Rayudu  also went back to the pavillion for a

Sachin was involved in two important partnerships with JP Duminy and Kieron Pollard to bring his teams total to a respectable semblance. Duminy scored 31 runs hitting four fours in the process and Pollard scored 25 with 3 fours and a six. 

Tewary had contributed 15 runs which included four hits to the boundry. Rayudu got a thick edge off his glove off Shane Watson and nicked it to Naman Ojha. Mumbai Indians managed to score 65 runs of the last 5 overs. Even after having losing three wickets earlier, Sachin ensured to post a decent total of 174 on board.  (more…)
