Sachin powered Mumbai to super win with a superb innings of 72 off 52 balls which ensured an easy win for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets. With this win, Mumbai goes to the top of the table. Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and elected to field Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in their league match against Chennai Super Kings.

Mumbai Indians had made no change in their team from the last encounter of IPL-3, but Chennai Super Kings got a boost by the arrival of their skipper M.S.Dhoni who was nursing a bruised elbow earlier and was fit to play.

For the Chennai Super Kings, Parthiv Patel and M Hayden opened the innings. Patel scored 8 runs and was bowled by McLaren and Hayden contributed 20 runs and was out lbw b Harbhajan Singh. Thereafter Chennai Super Kings did not loose any further wickets and a superb partnership by Suresh Raina and Badrinath of 142 runs saw Chennai Super Kings reach a fighting score of 180 for 2.

In reply thereto Mumbai Indians scored 181 for the loss of five wickets.  Sachin Tendulkar opened the Mumbai innings with Shikhar Dhawan and put on 92 runs for the first wicket, when Dhawan fell for56 runs c Raina b Jakati. This partnership of 92 steered Mumbai towards victory over Chennai Super Kings.

Apart from these two, Pollard 20 and Bravo 14 were the other contributors. The match was evenly poised upto the 15th over but swung in favour of Mumbai in the 16th over in which the Mumbai Indians plundered 19 runs off Balaji who while trying to york the ball, sent down full tosses for Sachin who conveneiently hit them out of the boundry. In the next over Pollard hit a beautiful six off the flick of his wrist, but edged the next ball from Murlitharan on to his stumps.

For the Chennai Super Kings, Murli bagged 2 wickets for 32 runs, Jakati 1 for 30 and Joginder 1 for 23. Balaji was the costliest bowler and gave away 50 runs in 4 overs and took 1 wicket.

The award for maximum sixes was bagged by Shikhar Dhawan.

The award for the Karbonn Kamaal Catch went to Suresh Raina.

Man of the Match award went to Sachin Tendulkar, who played magnificiently despite suffering from a minor attack of viral.
