Mumbai Indians beat the Deccan Chargers by 63 runs. It was again a classy performance by the Mumbai Indians. Sachin Tendulkar won the toss for the Mumbai Indians and elected to bat. Pragyan Ojha and Rahul Sharma had bowled very well to bring Mumbai to 62 for 3.
Saurabh Tiwary and Ambati Rayudu again came to the rescue of Mumbai Indians when the top batsmen had failed. The two added 65 runs for the fourth wicket. Ambati Rayudu’s second half-century of the tournament rescued Mumbai Indians after a top-order collapsed to enable the Mumbai Indians to achieve a fighting total of 178 for 5 runs.
They had opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan and Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar was out for 35 runs and Mumbai Indians were 114 for 3 after the 15 over mark. Mumbai Indians lost three wickets quickly and later Saurabh Tewary and Rayudu stabilised the innings to a level of semblance.
Saurabh Tiwary was caught by Harris bowled Ojha for 44. Later Rayudu got injured while attempting to reach inside the crease where he slipped, and took Shikhar Dhawan as his runner in the 19th over. Rayudu slammed a six over cover boundry off Jaskaran to reach his half century. 20 runs were plundered off Jaskaran’s over which was also the 19th over of the innings.Thereafter, three couples and two boundaries in Harris’ last over. Mumbai Indians were very much home and 178 for 5 wickets.
Ojha took 3 wickets for 26, Rahul Sharma 1 for 24 and R Harris 1 for 40
In reply thereto Deccan Chargers team could not build any good partnership on the way. V.V.S.Luxman was out for 4 runs. Gilchrist, who was their main hope,could not stay at the crease for long and was bowled by Zahir Khan for 19 runs. Other batsmen also could not hang on for long and kept going to the stadium one by one. Rohit Sharma and Symonds were expected to lift the team but they also could not give any support and were out soon. Later Suman was out for 11 runs and Deccan Chargers were a disappointed lot.
The award of the Maximum Sixes went to Saurabh Tewary.
The Karbonn Kamaal Catch went to Kieron Pollard.
The Man of the Match award went to Ambati Rayudu.
