Royal Challangers Bangalore beat Deccan Chargers by nine wickets in a totaly one-sided match. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat against Royal Challangers Bangalore at the D Y Patil Stadium Mumbai on Saturday. Deccan Chargers struggled and slipped to reach to a total of 82 runs in the third-place play-off.
Not many people came to witness the game and it was a dull atmosphere which prevailed through Deccan’s innings. Adam Gilchrist and Monish Sharma opened the innings for Deccan Chargers and Gilchrist departed early caught at square leg boundary by Kallis while attempting to hit a six off a full toss from Kumble.
Apart from Anirudh who scored 40 runs for his team, no other batsman could contribute much to the Deccan Chargers score. Kumble opened the bowling against Gilchrist and got him out caught by Kallis in the first over. Praveen Kumar bowled well and mixed his cutters with slower ones, in a tight spell. (more…)

Deccan Chargers had won the last five encounters consecutively and the law of averages finally caught up with them. A fine bowling display by Doug Bollinger enabled Chennai to enter the final of the IPL-3.
MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat on Thursday in the Second Semi final between Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers played at the Dr. D.Y.Patil Stadium Mumbai. Dhoni had judged that the pitch would help the pacers now, and would take spin later. But his gamble did not initially work out as his batsmen failed to deliver the goods one after another and went back to the pavilion in quick succession.
Mathew Hayden and Murli Vijai opened the innings for Chennai and three regulation catches were dropped in the first five overs. Despite this lapse on the apart of Deccan, Chennai were a pathetic 50 for 3 after 8 and and at the half way mark were at 62 for the loss of 3 wickets. (more…)

Deccan Chargers defended the lowest total chase and beat Delhi Daredevils by 11 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi on Sunday. Batting first, Deccan Chargers scored 145 for 7 wickets and they got them in 134 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Deccan Chargers won the toss and chose to bat.
Deccan Chargers have won all of their last five encounters on the trot. The famous dictum that catches win matches, was amply evident in today’s match.
Andrew Symonds was the only Delhi batsman who offered some resistance for Deccan Chargers against Delhi Daredevils. Deccan were shaky at the start before the Symonds slow and cautious approach to the game saw Delhi reach 145 for 7. (more…)

The Kings XI Punjab scored 174 for the loss of three wickets against the Deccan Chargers at the HPCA Stadium in the picturesque hilly town of Dharamshala on Thursday. Jayawardane and Shaun Marsh opened the innings for Kings XI Punjab and Marsh was out for a duck caught Gilchrist bowled Harris. Then Jayawardane alongwith his Sr Lankan team-mate[[ Kumar Sangakara took control of the Punjab’s innings.
The first 50 of the innings came in 6.5 overs. Jayawardane got a life when was dropped off Pragyan Ojha in the 9th over when he was on 21 runs. Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara later scored fifties to take Kings XI Punjab to a strong position. (more…)

Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challangers Bangalore by at the Vidharba Cricket Association Ground at Nagpur on Monday. Dale Steyn’s superb bowling effort wrecked Deccan Chargers top batsmen. Gilchrist, Suman and Gibbs were his victims and he got them with sheer pace and accuracy.
Rohit Sharma and Monish Mishra somehow tried their best to stabilise the sinking ship of Deccan Chargers with an 82 run partnership. Gilchrist was the first to go out caught Uthappa when he edged the ball from Steyn.
Rohit Sharma was out caught Pandey bowled Vinay for after scoring the vital half century for his team. At that time Deccan Chargers then stood at 133 for 6 and then Suman was caught off a rising delivery at leg slip by Taylor. (more…)

Suresh Raina’s half-century goes in vain as Deccan Chargers beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets. This victory was carved out by the Deccan bowlers who had restricted the Chennai team to just 138 runs
M.S.Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat at the Vidharba Cricket Association Stadium at Nagpur on Saturday. It was a tremendously hot afternoon where the temperature hovered around 41*C. Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets in an exciting match where 55,000 spectators enjoyed a thrilling display of hard hitting shots at the Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore on Thursday. Adam Gilchrist won the toss for Deccan Chargers and put the Royal Challangers Bangalore to bat.
Jacques Kallis and Manish Pandey opened the innings for Bangalore and Pandey was bowled by Ryan Harris for 1 run. The Royal Challangers lost wickets at regular interval and were 68 for 4 at the 10th over mark. Then Kallis, with the adequate support of Virat Kohli steaded the innings for Bangalore. (more…)

Rajasthan Royals beat Deccan Chargers in a thrilling encounter which went down to the wire and was decided on the second-last ball. This was a victory for the Rajasthan bowlers who did not buckle under pressure. This win takes Rajasthan Royals to the fourth place in the points table. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL-3 match played at the Vidharbha Cricket Association ground, Nagpur on Monday.
Micheal Lumb and Naman Ojha opened the innings for the Rajasthan Royals. Action started right in the first over of the match when Lumb was declared out caught by Harrris and was called back by the third umpire after the replay showed that the ball had actually touched the ground before the catch was taken. The second match of the super Saturday IPL-3 was played at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, between Mumbai Indians and the Deccan Chargers. Mumbai Indians beat the Deccan Chargers by 63 runs. It was again a classy performance by the Mumbai Indians. Sachin Tendulkar won the toss for the Mumbai Indians and elected to bat. Pragyan Ojha and Rahul Sharma had bowled very well to bring Mumbai to 62 for 3.
Saurabh Tiwary and Ambati Rayudu again came to the rescue of Mumbai Indians when the top batsmen had failed. The two added 65 runs for the fourth wicket. Ambati Rayudu’s second half-century of the tournament rescued Mumbai Indians after a top-order collapsed to enable the Mumbai Indians to achieve a fighting total of 178 for 5 runs. (more…)

Kolkatta Knight Riders beat Deccan Chargers by 24 runs in an exciting encounter which went on to a clinical finish till the last over.

The Kolkatta Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first at the Eden Gardens Kolkatta on Thursday against the Deccan Chargers. The capacity crowd at the venue had something to cheer about today as their heart throb Saurav Ganguly got back to form and slammed a half-century in their presence.
Ganguly,who is affectionately called the Prince of Kolkata, slammed 88 runs and led his team to a comfortable score of 181 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ganguly hit 9 boundaries and 5 sixes in his illustrious innings of 88 and was out caught Rohit Sharma b Pragyan Ojha. (more…)
