June 16th witnessed the worst ever natural calamity in the hills of Uttarakhand. It was a cloud burst, rush of water into the Ganges, erosion of soil along it’s embankments, resulting in destruction of the roads along the entire route, and a total catastrophe supported by incessant rains thereafter.
Rest houses, buildings, approx 90 Dharamshalas were washed away within seconds at KedarNath alone.
Lakhs of pilgrims go to Char Dham Yatra which include – KedarNath, BadriNath, Gangotri and Yamunotri every year and on that day also there were no less. (more…)
