It has been a little over one year since our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He has also decided that Centre/States will create about a hundred beautiful Cities with the necessary infrastructure and provide facilities which would be easily approachable by its residents

A ‘smart city’ is an urban region that is highly advanced in terms of overall infrastructure, sustainable real estate, communications and market viability. Information Technology should provide solutions in a secure fashion to manage a city’s assets – the city’s assets include, local department’s information systems, schools, libraries, transportation systems, hospitals, power plants, law enforcement, and other community services. I distinctly remember it was the year 1995. My daughter had just appeared for her graduation final exams. She said, “Pa”, as she proudly addresses me “Yes “, I said. “Pa, I think you have spent more than 450,000 rupees on my education alone so far”.

I was taken aback. Never ever thought of that, and why should I. I had only performed my duties towards both my kids.

“Why, how did you ever come to think of that?” I asked.
“Nothing, it just occurred to me”, she replied. (more…)

The billion dollar Australian Education industry has been in the news for the last three months for all the wrong reasons. Earlier, in late May and June 09 thousands of Indian students demonstrated in Sydney and Melbourne chanting ‘we want justice’ – ‘we want justice’. They were complaining against racial attacks on Indian students and absolute police indifference. They went to Australia to study.

A blatant revelation by ‘Four Corners’ programme on ABC TV Channel last night exposed the exploitation of helpless Indian and foreign students in Australia by unscrupulous businessmen who have set up training schools which render diplomas which are worthless. (more…)
