THE PRECIOUS WIFE

October 6th, 2013 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on THE PRECIOUS WIFE

Life sometimes gives you a test even before you have had the time to study the lesson. That is what happened to me. –

It was the 15th of Nov 1973 that I had got married and my wife stepped into my life.

She was a calm and composed person and full of laughter. She smiled even during adverse conditions and was able to make this world a better place for me. It was mainly due to her positive attitude that we actually lived life with lots of Love, Care and Share.

Affectionately, I used to call her Rani and believe me that she was indeed taken care of like a Queen.

And like any other married couple, we too used to quarrel a lot.

She was a simple down-to-earth girl whose ‘wants’ were very few. She never demanded anything from me and never complained about anything. She was God-fearing, educated, a double-Post-Graduate and she had had the knack of taking every situation in her stride. (more…)

GOD GIVE ME A SECOND CHANCE

June 2nd, 2010 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on GOD GIVE ME A SECOND CHANCE

It’s another morning and I have to go to the office as usual.  But why didn’t she give me my morning cuppa tea?

Yes, today’s paper is right here but who opened the obituary columns on page 8?

What the hell, this is my picture in the Obituary column. But what is my photo doing here, I am alive and I called my wife.

Nobody listened. Nobody came. What the hell’s going on?

Where is my mobile, I will give her a call. I remembered, it was kept in the next room.  (more…)

READY TO HELP

July 10th, 2009 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on READY TO HELP

We have to withstand erratic behaviour from various people day in and day out in carrying out our household chores. We  also have to bear  these idiosyncratic stances patiently. Isn’t that really amazing? People are still worrying about non-issues and turning a blind eye to the day to day difficulties.

When Dhoni and Harbhajan did not attend the Padma Shri awards some idiot filed a lawsuit against them. Oh, please forgive them for they know not what they have done. Does he know that there are thousands of other social issues to choose from, for which he should knock that door. Just see how we are utilising our valuable time.

Ready to Help

Ready to Help

It takes me two hours standing in the queue to pay the electricity bill as there is only one counter. Why can’t they open more counters to divide the rush. I have to carry the previous month’s paid bill, with receipt, with me just in case it is not fed in their computer.

LIFE’s LIKE THAT

June 28th, 2009 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on LIFE’s LIKE THAT

Life is neither very easy nor very difficult. My best period was school which was followed by college. After studies, it was the office. After a few years of performing office duties I got married and took care of the two kids, their education, their wedding and then one fine morning I got an order on my table that I was going to retire on January 31st.

My life went past like a machine and as it is said in any new car advertisement “0 to 60 in 10 seconds”. Yes my life was just like that. In 10 seconds I was 60 years – retired but not tired, still possessed the zeal and stamina to live it all over again, if permitted. I am a human being; I have my desires which are still unfulfilled. I wanted to learn the guitar and play the drums, join the gym, but could not due to the paucity of time and lots of duties. (more…)

THE INEVITABLE END!

June 13th, 2009 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on THE INEVITABLE END!

Are you scared of death? You should not be because this will happen to every one of us on the face of this earth, then why worry?

What will happen after you die? You had been very popular with family and friends and the social circle and used to gossip with people of your age on the cemented bench in the park outside your flat and people should care. So, people should care and miss you after your departure for the heavenly abode. What will happen? How will the world react once you are gone? Everyone will worry? Remember, this departure from the face of this earth has to happen to one and all irrespective of one’s status in society and there is no exception to the rule. Do you really want to know what will happen thereafter? Please read the succeeding paragraphs.

In the downtown suburban block, an elderly person who was quite popular with fellows suddenly passed away. They fondly called him Sharmaji.  A lady residing in the flat bang opposite to Sharma’s flat was cooking lunch when she heard loud cries from outside her house. She immediately switched off the gas, removed her apron, covered the utensil of milk with a lid and went out to find out what the commotion was all about. (more…)

AMENDS MUST BE MADE

June 3rd, 2009 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on AMENDS MUST BE MADE

Everyone wants to change the way they are living their lives. Dissatisfaction is written  all over on most of the faces. “Why did these things happen to me only? Others are enjoying. They have this, that and what not, and why am I leading this miserable life.” Even I have worked hard for so long but what has Almighty given me? Why doesn’t Almighty look towards me sympathetically and bestow upon me the amenities and changes I desire and let me live a decent and comfortable life?

The fact is that those who aimed higher, have also worked hard to achieve their desired objectives. Time is the most important commodity. If you have wasted your time over trivial issues, you stay put –  without any further gains. If you have got ‘something’ by doing what you have been doing so far, you will never get anything more than that   if you keep doing the same thing all through your life. (more…)

WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR?

May 23rd, 2009 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Life   Comments Off on WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR?

I still remember like it happened few days ago but it  had happened  almost two decades ago. My neighbor knocked at my gate and asked whether he could park his car inside our campus as the road outside his residence was being metalled. Then I saw few blankets on the back seat of his car. He himself told me that they were just returning from Chandigarh after attending a friends daughters wedding. Then I asked him as to why he carried his own blankets. Then he said, what are friends for?

Man can find satisfaction by living in a society and talking to people. But it is in the company of friends that he enjoys most. And true friends are few. True friends are those who have no inhibitions, they are purely selfless and sacrificing people. The understandings are absolutely clear. A true friend is what you see in a mirror – your own image. Then how can you harm your own self?  There are no doubts in either’s mind. Friends don’t betray though some people do. Those people who betray are not friends in the true sense of the word. One has to be very careful in reposing trust in another. But Rome was not built in a day and so is friendship (more…)
