Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challangers Bangalore in a thrilling encounter. R. C. Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai on Wednesday. Jacques Kallis and Pandey opened the innings for the RCB and Pandey could not last long and was caught by Dhoni b Thussara for 5. In came Robin Uthappa to occupy the crease and he was dropped by Goni when he was at naught.

Thereafter, Uthappa slammed two sixes and a boundary but was caught by Goni, b by Shadab Jakati for 21 runs. Virat Kohli also played well and contributed 34 runs for the RCB and was caught by Vijai b Jakati. Actually Virat Kohli and Jacques Kallis set the momentum for the RCB and were together in a half-century stand. (more…)

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field on Tuesday at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.  Bopara and Marsh opened the innings for KXIP but Bopara was packed quickly and sent to pavilion when he had made just 1 run lbw b Zaheer Khan. Thereafter, at one stage it appeared as if it was a match between Shaun Marsh and Mumbai. Lasith Malinga starred with the ball and Shikhar Dhawan shone with the bat as Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by four wickets. IPL-3 : DELHI BEAT KOLKATTA

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat against Kolkatta Knight Riders on Monday at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi.  Warner stole the show with his splendid century and which helped  the Delhi  score to 177 for 8 wickets. Delhi had already lost three wickets – one in each of the three overs when  Virendra Sehwag Gautam Gambhir and Dinesh Kartik were all back to the stadium and KKR team was riding high. 

The KKR team could never had envisioned what cricket had in store for them. Collingwood arrived at the crease with the Delhi score reading at 38 for 3.  (more…)

IPL : 3 – MUMBAI THRASH DECCAN

Harbhajan Singh steered Mumbai to an emphatic win with wham-bam 49 which later followed by a three wicket haul at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai. The game made a dramatic turn around for the Mumbai Indians when he hit eight fours and two sixes in front of a jam-packed stadium. Zaheer Khan also took three wickets who was ably supported from the other end by Malinga who also took 3 wickets for   wickets. This was the third striaight win for MI and stay on top of the points table.

Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field.

The pivotal role for the Deccan Chargers is always played by Adam Gilchrist, who unfortunately, went down to Harbhajan for a duck to Harbhajan caught by Sachin Tendulkar. That spelt disaster for the DC. 

Thereafter Rohit Sharma scored 45 runs  with two sixes and  three fours. The other contributors for Deccan Chargers were Monish Sharma 13, Hershelle Gibbs 27 and Suman 15.  (more…)

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad on Sunday. Naman Ojha and Micheal Lumb opened the innings for the RR in the hot summer afternoon when the temperature on the ground was hovering around 42*.  A fully packed stadium watched the proceedings in the heat.  The opening partnership was worth 47 runs, when Lumb was out, caught Thusara for 30 runs. IPL-3 : KOLKATTA BEAT PUNJAB

Kolkatta Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bat against Kings XI Punjab at the PCA Stadium Mohali on Saturday. Saurav Ganguly and Manoj Tewari hit half centuries for Kolkatta Knight Riders and scored 183 for 5 wickets; a score which the KingsXI Punjab could not reach and lost the match by 39 runs.  David Hussey returned to the squad for the KKR and Bret Lee made his first appearance for Kings XI Punjab and opened the bowling attack.

Chris Gayle opened the  innings with Saurav Ganguly for the Kolkatta Knight Riders. Gayle was out caught by Bisla, bowled Salabh Srivastava for 14 runs.  Saurav Ganguly and Manoj Tewary took over the reigns of the KKR and consolidated the innings. Ganguly struck his maiden 50 of IPL-3. Ganguly hit this  half century  after 16 innings and the last one was hit in 2008. (more…)

Rajasthan Royals beat Deccan Charges by  eight wickets at the Sardar Patel Stadium at Ahmedabad on Friday. It was a match where spectators enjoyed the rain of the sixes.

Deccan Chargers won the toss and chose to bat. There was some confusion as to who had called the coin correctly, but the toss was awarded to Deccan Chargers who chose to bat. Rajasthan Royals contained the flow of runs by some shrewd captaincy under Shane Warne, who not only rotated his bowlers well but he himself sent a wonderful spell bagging 1 wicket for 15 runs. Their best achievement was getting rid of Adam Gilchrist early for 1 run, and that helped uplift the morale of Rajasthan Royals. (more…)

Sachin powered Mumbai to super win with a superb innings of 72 off 52 balls which ensured an easy win for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets. With this win, Mumbai goes to the top of the table. Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and elected to field Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in their league match against Chennai Super Kings.

Mumbai Indians had made no change in their team from the last encounter of IPL-3, but Chennai Super Kings got a boost by the arrival of their skipper M.S.Dhoni who was nursing a bruised elbow earlier and was fit to play.

For the Chennai Super Kings, Parthiv Patel and M Hayden opened the innings. Patel scored 8 runs and was bowled by McLaren and Hayden contributed 20 runs and was out lbw b Harbhajan Singh. Thereafter Chennai Super Kings did not loose any further wickets and a superb partnership by Suresh Raina and Badrinath of 142 runs saw Chennai Super Kings reach a fighting score of 180 for 2. Royal Challangers Bangalore have tasted their first defeat on their home ground. Despite the heroics of Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli, RCB could not overhaul the score of 183 set be Delhi Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Thursday. The RCB won the toss and chose to field. Delhi Daredevils beat them by 17 runs.

Batting first, a solid start from David Warner and a good partnership between AB de Villiers and Dinesh Karthik, took  Delhi Daredevils to a fighting score of 183 for 4. Warner scored 33 off 14 balls. Sehwag coould not contribute much and was out for 12 runs. (more…)

RR BEAT KXI P

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and decided to field against Rajasthan Royals at the PCA Stadium Mohali on Wednesday. While Rajasthan retained the same line-up of the previous match,  Punjab had brought in Sreesanth to strengthen their pace attack. The pitch at the PCA stadium had a lot of grass on top and was considered to be helpful to the seamers Sresaanth and Irfan Pathan who opened the bowling for Kings XI Punjab. Punjab’s decision to field made perfect sense in conditions favourable for bowling early on. Sreesanth and Irfan Pathan, managed to beat the outside edge on more than one occasion. (more…)
