Chennai Super Kings Bt Kolkatta Knight Riders Chennai Super Kings were very pleased to reach a fighting score of 164/3 in their 20 overs at the Eden Gardens Kolkatta. It was a pretty slow start as they lost some big wickets early on. Vijay and Raina got off to a start but departed soon. Both MS Dhoni and Badrinath then took over the task of rebuilding the innings and added an unbroken 109-run stand from 65 balls and they took their score to a fighting level at 164/3.

Dhoni (66* off 33) and Badrinath (43* off 33) added 109 runs for the fourth wicket hitting some big shots towards the end. Kolkata started off well with their bowling attack but could not stop these batsman from scoring big in the final overs. (more…)

Virendra Sehwag

Virendra Sehwag

Delhi Daredevils beat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets at Ahmedabad on Monday. Virendra Sehwag, who also fetched the Man of the match award, ensured victory for Delhi by his blistering knock of 75 runs off 34 balls. His effort was coupled with a disciplined all-round bowling attack from Delhi Daredevils which added the required impetus to their victory.

Delhi Daredevils restricted the Rajasthan Royals to 141 for 6, which was not a fighting total considering the fact the Sehwag  gave Delhi the launch  they needed. Rajasthan’s attacking start was dented by a good spell by Dirk Nannes and of Amit Mishra, which did not give them any way out to score against the formidable and disciplined Delhi attack. Abhishek Jhunjhunwala brought up his maiden IPL fifty on the last ball of the 20th over which he hit for a four.  (more…)

It was a huge win for Kolkata Knight Riders in front of a packed Eden Gardens crowd on Sunday.  Angelo Mathews bowled very well and picked up 4 wickets for 19 runs. This was KKRs second consecutive win and are at present at the head of the table with 4 points.

Kolkata took charge of the match right from the beginning and Bangalore’s top order including Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli failed. The entire Bangalore batting did not click with the exception of Jacques Kallis who made an unbeaten 65 and tried to give some semblance to the total, but did not succeed and couldn’t save Bangalore from disaster. K.K.R BT DECCAN CHARGERS

March 13th, 2010 by Ravi Matah | Posted in Sports   Comments Off on K.K.R BT DECCAN CHARGERS

In the inaugural match of the IPL-3, Kolkatta Knight Riders beat Deccan Chargers by 11 runs at the Dr. D.Y.Patil Stadium at Mumbai. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and elected to field first and this decision was initially thought to be courageous as he had a good batting line-up and could have batted first but perhaps fielded first keeping the dew-factor in mind.

Chaminda Vaas bowled exceptionally well and took 2 KKR wickets in just 4 balls of his first over and the score card for KKR batting looked pathetic at 0-2. They had lost their first 4 wickets in quick succcesion and at that time it appeared that they would not reach even 100 runs.  (more…)
