Zaheer Khan bowled exceptionally well and helped India snatch a point from England after a pathetic display from Indian bowlers and fielders led to team’s failure in defending a huge target of 338 as the Group B match ended in a tie at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bangalore on Sunday.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat on Sunday in front of a packed  stadium against England in their second World Cup fixture. Sachin Tendulkar delighted the spectators there and millions watching all over the world, with his five sixes and struck his 47th ODI century. This was his 98th century in International cricket.

When Sehwag was going great guns, Sachin was suppporting him with calm and ease and almost stood there watching Sehwag score. Sehwag got 35 runs though he could have been out twice during this period. (more…)

Paul Collingwood won the toss and asked Australia to bat first.  Australia lost three quick wickets in the final of ICC World Cup T20 tournament at the Kensington Oval ground on Sunday. The law of averages had caught up with the Australians who were all along on a winning streak, till today.

They were in dire straits when David Hussey saved them from a total disaster by scoring 59 runs off 54 balls. With the top cream back to the pavilion, it was the middle order which pushed Australia to 147 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs.

It was again Cameroon White who scored 30 runs off 19 balls in the company of M Hussey who gave some respectability to the Australian total. It was remarkable bowling and superb fielding by the England players that Australia were 8 for 3 in three overs. (more…)

Royal Challangers Bangalore beat Deccan Chargers by nine wickets in a totaly one-sided match. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat against Royal Challangers Bangalore at the D Y Patil Stadium Mumbai on Saturday.  Deccan Chargers struggled and slipped to reach to a total of 82 runs in the third-place play-off. 

Not many people came to witness the game and it was a dull atmosphere which prevailed through Deccan’s innings. Adam Gilchrist and Monish Sharma opened the innings for Deccan Chargers and Gilchrist departed early caught at square leg boundary by Kallis while attempting to hit a six off a full toss from Kumble. 

Apart from Anirudh who scored 40 runs for his team, no other batsman could contribute much to the Deccan Chargers score. Kumble opened the bowling against Gilchrist and got him out caught by Kallis in the first over. Praveen Kumar bowled well and mixed his cutters with slower ones, in a tight spell.  (more…)

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium Jaipur on Wednesday. Bangalore restricted Rajasthan to 130 runs and they made these runs  with utmost ease. 

M. Lumb and Naman Ojha opened the innings for Rajasthan on a pitch which had a slow bounce. Rajasthan could not show their batting prowess today, as they were in bad shape right from the word go. 

Lumb was run out for 9 and Rajasthan 16 for 1. Paunikar arrived at the crease but he too departed soon and the score became 17 for 2. Rajasthan got another blow when Ojha was out caught Pandey bowled by Pankaj Singh for 7 runs. (more…)

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab by six wickets. Irresponsible fielding by Kings XI Punjab and a series of dropped catches cost them the match. Kings XI Punjab won the toss and chose to bat against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday at the PCA Stadium, Mohali.

Shaun Marsh and Manvinder Bisla opened the innings but Marsh was caught by Dravid off the bowling of Vinay Kumar after scoring only 2 runs. Dravid has a reputation of having the safest pair of hands in the slip region. (more…)
