Chennai SuperKings won the toss and elected to field first on Sunday. Kings XI Punjab did not score well to the expectations of the viewers and were apparently in dire straits right from the word go. Muttiah Muralitharan bowled exceptionally well and took three important wickets resulting in another meagre total from Kings XI Punjab.

Irfan Pathan, promoted to open the innings, and Yuvraj Singh would have felt that the entire teams burden rests on them alone. They were not supported by any other batsman from their team. Irfan scored 39 but Ravi Bopara made a quick exit after scoring 1 run. Other contributors for Kings XI Punjab score were Yuvraj 43, Sangakara 15 and Mohammed Kaif 14 runs. (more…)

Chennai Super Kings Bt Kolkatta Knight Riders Chennai Super Kings were very pleased to reach a fighting score of 164/3 in their 20 overs at the Eden Gardens Kolkatta. It was a huge win for Kolkata Knight Riders in front of a packed Eden Gardens crowd on Sunday.  Angelo Mathews bowled very well and picked up 4 wickets for 19 runs. This was KKRs second consecutive win and are at present at the head of the table with 4 points.

Kolkata took charge of the match right from the beginning and Bangalore’s top order including Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli failed. The entire Bangalore batting did not click with the exception of Jacques Kallis who made an unbeaten 65 and tried to give some semblance to the total, but did not succeed and couldn’t save Bangalore from disaster.
