IPL-3 : DECCAN BEAT DELHI

Deccan Chargers defended the lowest total chase and beat Delhi Daredevils by 11 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi on Sunday. Batting first, Deccan Chargers scored 145 for 7 wickets and they got them in 134 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Deccan Chargers won the toss and chose to bat.

Deccan Chargers have won all of their last five encounters on the trot. The famous dictum that catches win matches, was amply evident in today’s match.

Andrew Symonds was the only Delhi batsman who offered some resistance for Deccan Chargers against Delhi Daredevils.  Deccan were shaky at the start before the Symonds slow and cautious approach to the game saw Delhi  reach 145 for 7. (more…)

IPL-3 : DELHI BEAT CHENNAI

Chennai Super Kings won the toss at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium Chennai and opted to bat against the Delhi Daredevils. Dhoni must still be wondering whether he had taken the right decision. It was an absolute dismal batting performance by Chennai who lost wickets at regular intervals. At one stage Chennai were 23 for 3 and at the ten over half mark they were 55 for 6.

Badrinath scored 30 runs with the help of 2 fours and helped Chennai cross the hundred run mark.

Daredevils produced a disciplined bowling and fielding performance to restrict Chennai to 112 for 9. Though Badrinath contributed 30 valuable runs for his team other batsmen could not do justice and Vijai scored 17, Raina 15 and Hussey also contributed 15 runs. Doug Bollinger scored 16 runs and the only six of the match was also scored by him. (more…)

IPL-3 : MUMBAI BEAT DELHI

Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday. Mumbai opened with Sachin Tendulkar and C.Madan who put up a 41 run opening partnership when Madan was out for 15 runs and  Tewary joined Sachin at the crease.

Tewary was playing well and gave adequate support to Sachin Tendulkar. Later Tendulkar was caught by de Villiers and bowled Sangwan for 30 runs which included three hits to the fence. Mumbai were then 65 for 2 and Rayudu walked in to support Tewary. 

Tewary misread a slower one from Sangawan and was bowled for 38 runs which were puctuated with a four and two sixes. Rayudu slowly prodded along to build up Mumbai score and  was later caught by AB de Villiers and bowled Ashish Nehra for 24 runs.  (more…)

A brilliant bowling and fielding performance from Kings XI Punjab bundled out Delhi Daredevils  for 111 runs. Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat against Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Delhi on Sunday. Punjab began their bowling attack with Ramesh Powar, a spinner, and Delhi spinners virtually spun Delhi out of the ground.

Kings XI Punjab lost wickets at regular intervals with Sehwag being caught by Sodhi off the bowling of Irfan Pathan and then the slide began. A worthwhile contribution to the score came from Gautam Gambhir who scored 26 runs and was run out.

Gambhir was called for a non-existant run by Warner and was sent back without enough time for him to reach the crease. Warner was also run out for 6 and the other batsman to contribute to the score was Dinesh Karthik, who had made 17 runs. (more…)

IPL-3 : KOLKATTA BEAT DELHI

Kolkatta Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat at the Eden Gardens, Kolkatta on Wednesday. Saurav Ganguly and Chris Gayle opened the innings and laid a decent foundation for the Kolkatta  score to read 181 for the loss of three wickets.

Ganguly’s half century was punctuated with 8 fours and a six and chris Gayle slammed 40 runs with 5 fours and a six. Ganguly was bowled by  Vittori and Gayle was bowled by Bhatia. Tewary was not out on 26 and Mathews contributed 46 not out. 

After 10 overs Kolkatta Knight Riders  were 88 for no loss and they  scored the 100 runs in 10.5 overs. Gayle hit most of his runs to the fine leg boundry and hit Collingwood for a towering six.  (more…)

IPL-3 : DELHI BEAT BANGALORE

It was a game of fluctuating fortunes between runs and wickets as Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challangers fought it out at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, New Delhi on Sunday. Gautam Gambhir won the toss and chose to bat. Virendra Sehwag scored 35 runs off 22 balls and was bowled by Mithun.  Sehwag had hit two huge sixes and five fours in his 35 runs. He slammed one six off the first ball of Mithun’s over and was bowled in the very next ball. 

Kumble  bowled very well and he ensured that DD could not reach to a high total and contained them by superb bowling and fielding. Gautam Gambhir was run out and David Warner also did not last long. Warne hit three fours and two sixes but was later caught on the long-on boundry.  (more…)

Delhi Daredevils beat Rajasthan Royals by 67  runs. This is a comprehensive victory by Delhi over Rajasthan. Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat on Wednesday against Rajasthan Royals at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. Delhi opened the innings with D Warner and Sehwag who put up 24 for the first wicket. Warner was bowled by Narwal.

Thereafter wickets fell for Delhi at almost regular intervals and they were 67 for 4 when Dinesh Karthik and Gautam Gambhir steadied the Delhi innings to consolidate their team’s score  into a fighting total. Gautam Gambhir scored a classy 43 which were punctuated with 3 fours and was caught by Pathan off the bowling of Narwal. (more…)

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bat against Kolkatta Knight Riders on Monday at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi.  Warner stole the show with his splendid century and which helped  the Delhi  score to 177 for 8 wickets. Delhi had already lost three wickets – one in each of the three overs when  Virendra Sehwag Gautam Gambhir and Dinesh Kartik were all back to the stadium and KKR team was riding high. 

The KKR team could never had envisioned what cricket had in store for them. Collingwood arrived at the crease with the Delhi score reading at 38 for 3.  (more…)

Royal Challangers Bangalore have tasted their first defeat on their home ground. Despite the heroics of Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli, RCB could not overhaul the score of 183 set be Delhi Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Thursday. The RCB won the toss and chose to field. Delhi Daredevils beat them by 17 runs.

Batting first, a solid start from David Warner and a good partnership between AB de Villiers and Dinesh Karthik, took  Delhi Daredevils to a fighting score of 183 for 4. Warner scored 33 off 14 balls. Sehwag coould not contribute much and was out for 12 runs. (more…)

DECCAN BT DELHI – IPL-3

Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to put on a fighting score of 171 for 6 wickets on board in the allotted 20 overs. David Warner’s half-century and captain Dinesh Karthik’s fighting 46 were not enough as Delhi Daredevils threw away a sure-shot victory to go down by 10 runs to Deccan Chargers at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Sunday.

Delhi appeared to be on the victory track but the departure of  Dinesh Kartik (c&b by Symonds) destroyed their hopes and thereafter Delhi’s wickets fell like nine pins. Symonds starred for the Chargers with both bat and ball, picking up three wickets for 21 runs from his four overs after scoring 35. (more…)
